Student Wellness & Cultural Support
The Student Wellness and Cultural Support Program provides a welcoming, confidential, and integrated service that is responsive to the Anishinabek Educational Institute students’ wellbeing and cultural needs.
Wellness activities have been developed to ease your stress levels, as well as enhancing your skills. The AEI also has a wide variety of Cultural workshops related to Anishinabek culture.
The AEI has Elders who attend the campus as a form of support for the students. They provide counselling, assist in running workshops, and they attend classes with students.
Pursuing an education has its challenges and the AEI understands there are times you may need more support.
Our program makes referrals to outside resources you may need, and assists with mediation and resolution.
The program offers academic, personal, career, and Indigenous counselling. All sessions are confidential. You can schedule a counselling session with the Student Wellness Coordinator or one of the Elders.
Information About Programs
All programs offered at the Anishinabek Educational Institute are full-time programs. Our programs are not only designed to reduce the high stress levels which develop when students are away from their family, community, and workplace responsibilities, but are also designed to enable students to retain their jobs while being trained.
