Indigenous ELCC Bursary Now Open for Binoojinyag Kinoomaadwin:ECE Students: AEI Answering Some FAQs!
The Anishinabek Nation’s Labour Market Development Department is now accepting applications for the 2026 Indigenous Early Learning & Child Care (ELCC) Bursary.
This annual award will provide four Early Childhood Education students with $5,000 each to support their studies and future careers working with children and families.
If you’re a registered member of one of the 39 Anishinabek First Nations enrolled full-time in AEI’s Binoojinyag Kinoomaadwin: Early Childhood Education program with a minimum GPA of 2.0, this is the perfect opportunity for support!

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a high GPA to apply?
You need a minimum 2.0 GPA from your most recent semester. It is not based on your overall or cumulative average.
What if I’ve struggled in one course or semester?
You may still be eligible as long as your most recent semester GPA meets the 2.0 requirement.
Do transcripts need to be official?
No, unofficial transcripts or printouts from your student portal are accepted.
What kind of support letter is required?
A letter from someone who can speak to your academic journey or goals, such as a:
- Program advisor
- Instructor
- Counsellor
- Department director
Does my status card need to be current?
- A card expired within the last 6 months may still be accepted
- If your card is expired beyond that, a letter from your First Nation Membership office can be submitted instead
- Front and back copies are required
Will I need proof that I’m continuing my studies next year?
No additional confirmation is required beyond your current enrollment.
Can I apply by mail?
Yes, but mailed applications must be postmarked by July 31, 2026 to be considered.
